Download, install, or update K-State's antivirus software.

 
  Note: Managed SAV users should contact their system administrator before installing to their work PC.

Housing and Dining Residential Network (ResNet) users should contact resnet.k-state.edu technical support helpdesk.
 

1. 
Remove existing antivirus software
If you are currently using Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition for PC or Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh, you do not need to remove the software before installing the newer version. Go to step #2.

If you are running other antivirus software, it must be removed. This includes the following products:
  • Symantec products: Norton AntiVirus for PC, Norton Internet Security for PC/Mac and Norton SystemWorks for PC/Mac
  • McAffee products: VirusScan, Internet Security Suite, Virex for Mac
  • TrendMicro: PC-cillin and OfficeScan

On Windows, most antivirus software can be removed by using Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs.
 

2. 
Download antivirus client install file
To download, click on one of the links in the following table. Your K-State eID and password will be needed if you are off-campus. Save the file in a convenient location. You will need to know this location for step #4.

3. 
Close other applications
All applications should be closed before installing the antivirus software. After installing, you may need to restart your computer.
 
4.  Install the antivirus software
  • SAV CE 9.0.4.1000 and SAV CE 9.0.5.1000
    1. Locate and double-click the SAV904CLT.EXE or SAV905CLT.EXE file which was downloaded in step #2.
    2. Click Next when prompted to run LiveUpdate.
    3. Click Finish to end LiveUpdate.
    4. Click Yes if you are prompted to restart your computer.

  • Norton AntiVirus 10.0 for Macintosh OS X Version 10.3 or above
    1. Double-click the NAVM_10.0_corp.dmg icon on the desktop which was downloaded in step #2.
    2. Locate the Install for OS X disk on your desktop.

      If the "Install for OS X" disk did not mount:
      • Double-click the NAVM_10.0_corp.dmg icon on the desktop.

    3. Double-click on the Install for OS X disk.
    4. Double-click on the Install for OS X folder.
    5. Double-click the Norton AntiVirus Installer icon.
    6. Click Continue when prompted until you get to Select Destination.
    7. Select your install destination and click Continue.
    8. If you have an old version, it will prompt to upgrade. Click Upgrade.

  • Norton AntiVirus 9.0 for Macintosh OS X Version 10.1.5 or above
    1. Double-click the NAVM9.0.2corp.dmg.sit icon on the desktop which was downloaded in step #2.
    2. Locate the Install for OS X disk on your desktop.

      If the "Install for OS X" disk did not mount:
      • Double-click the NAVM9.0.2corp.dmg icon on the desktop.

    3. Double-click on the Install for OS X disk.
    4. Double-click on the Install for OS X folder.
    5. Double-click the Norton AntiVirus Installer icon.
    6. Click Continue when prompted until you get to Select Destination.
    7. Select your install destination and click Continue.
    8. If you have an old version, it will prompt to upgrade. Click Upgrade.

  • Norton AntiVirus 7.0 for Macintosh OS 8.1 to 9.X
    1. Double-click the NAVM7.0_OS9CD.SIT icon on the desktop which was downloaded in step #2.
    2. Double-click the Norton AntiVirus Installer icon.
    3. Click Continue when prompted until you get to Select Destination.
    4. Select your install destination and click Continue.
