K-State antivirus software for Mac OS X and higher


Follow these steps to install K-State's antivirus software for Mac OS X and higher:

Remove existing antivirus software

If you are running other antivirus software, it must be removed. This includes the following products:

    • Symantec products: Norton Internet Security for PC/Mac and Norton SystemWorks for PC/Mac
    • McAffee products: VirusScan, Internet Security Suite, Virex for MacDownload antivirus client install file.

      • Note: If you are currently using Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh, you do not need to remove the software before installing the newer version.

Download antivirus install file

Your K-State eID and password will be needed if you are off-campus.

* Campus is licensed for Symantec Norton AV Corporate Edition which is versioned differently than the consumer version of Symantec for Macintosh. Version 10.2.X corporate edition is equal in functionality to the consumer version 11.0.X .

Install the Antivirus Software

Symantec Antivirus 10.2.1 for Macintosh OS X 10.4.1 or above
  1. Close all programs.
  2. Navigate to the location where you saved the download and double-click.
  3. Locate the Symantec_10.2.1.dmg disk on your desktop.
  4. Double-click theSymantec_10.2.1.dmg disk.
  5. The Symantec AntiVirus 10 CD window should open automatically, if it does not locate the Symantec Antivirus 10 CD icon on your desktop and double click. .
  6. Double click the Symantec AntiVirus Installer option within the Symantec Antivirus 10 CD window
  7. Click Continue when prompted until you get to Select Destination.
  8. Select your install destination and then click Continue.
  9. Click Install
  10. If you have an old version, it will prompt to upgrade. Click Upgrade.

    Note: After installing, you may need to restart your computer.
Symantec's Norton AntiVirus 10.0 for Macintosh OS X Version 10.1.5 to 10.3
  1. Close all programs.
  2. Navigate to the location where you saved the download and double-click.
  3. Locate the Install for OS X disk on your desktop.

    Note: If the Install for OS X disk did not mount, double-click the NAVM_10.0_corp.dmg or the NAVM_9.02.sit icon on the desktop.

  4. Double-click the Install for OS X disk.
  5. Double-click the Install for OS X folder.
  6. Double-click the Norton AntiVirus Installer icon.
  7. Click Continue when prompted until you get to Select Destination.
  8. Select your install destination and then click Continue.
  9. If you have an old version, it will prompt to upgrade. Click Upgrade.

    Note: After installing, you may need to restart your computer.

Update Antivirus Software

  1. Click on the Symantec/Norton icon in the menu bar
  2. Select LiveUpdate, then Update everything now.
